SEATTLE - Emily Zemanek, who works at ABC Imaging in Pioneer Square, says police have done a good job cleaning up the neighborhood in the past few years, saying drug activity has dropped considerably.?
?They used to stand in our front door and do deals, and now we?ve had a lot less of that,? she said.
Yet she says she?s not surprised by a shooting early Sunday that left a young woman in critical condtion.
Mayor Mike McGinn, speaking at a town hall on Capitol Hill Tuesday night, acknowledged gun crime is on the rise.? He also says there is little wiggle room in the budget to devote resources to combat it.? Instead, he says nightclubs can focus on security and businesses can install low cost security systems to act as a deterrent for crime.?
Surveillance video from a Pioneer Square business helped police focus on a light colored car.
?Somebody knows who these people are,? said McGinn. ?Having that type of video recording it can help us solve crime and help people get behind bars.?
