The Zombiefest is still a go for Saturday, but don't look for zombies lurching down Embassy Boulevard as originally planned.
Organizers of the homage to the undead cancelled the zombie walk part of the festivities after the Pasco County Sheriff's Office told them they would need a county permit for such an activity.
The sheriff's office also pointed out the safety concerns ? even if the "zombies" keep to the sidewalk, it would still be a large group of people near traffic, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said
Activities for the inaugural Zombiefest will take place at the Oasis Coffee Spot, 9213 Little Road, and the Cinema 6 movie theater complex, 9510 U.S. 19.
The celebration begins at 2 p.m. at Oasis, where event tickets will be for sale. A team of professional makeup artists will "zombie-fy" guests. Basic zombie treatment is included in the $15 Zombiefest ticket price.
The zombie walk was to happen at 4:30 p.m. as people paraded from Oasis to the Cinema 6 movie complex.
A number of activities will happen at Cinema 6, including a group "Thriller" dance, a game of "zombie tag" and a "brain-eating" contest.
At 7:30 p.m., guests can choose from three zombie-themed movies. The movie screening is included in the ticket price.
